September 15 thru October 7, 2018

A Comedic Anthology by ROBERT ANDERSON

Directed by CHERYL MCGUIRE

"Shock of Recognition”

Abe Daniels, Kevin Hayles and James Darin Rich

“I’ll Be Home for Christmas” James Darin Rich and Marty Neider

"I’m Herbert” Joy Groves and Les Taylor

THE SHOCK OF RECOGNITION: a serious young dramatist stands his ground against a strong but queasy producer, who doesn’t like the opening moment of the play--a scene of brief nudity. (There is no actual nudity on stage.) An unsuspecting actor arrives to drop off photos and experiences a windfall when he’s brought into the conversation and becomes determined to win the part!

I'LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS: Parents discuss the responsibility of sex education of their almost-grown children, a girl and a boy. The mother is worried and urgent but passes the buck to the worn-out father, who maintains a laissez faire approach. Things become more serious when the father learns in a letter that his son is cutting adrift from the parental harbor.

I'M HERBERT: an old married couple enjoys a beautiful morning on their front porch, rocking and talking, until they become confused as to whom they are talking and about what, their aging memories unmoored from reality.

Directed by ABE DANIELS

Kurt Schauppner

Aidan Bosworth

Sean-Patrick Bresach

In a Chicago junk shop, three small-time crooks plot to rob a man of his coin collection, the showpiece of which is a valuable “Buffalo nickel.” These high-minded grifters fancy themselves businessmen pursuing legitimate free enterprise. But the reality of the three – Donny, the oafish junk shop owner; Bobby, a young junkie Donny has taken under his wing; and “Teach,” a violently paranoid braggart – is that they are merely pawns caught up in their own game of last-chance, dead-end, empty pipe dreams.

Joy Groves

Dory and her mother Margaret live together in a mobile home in Abilene, Texas.  On this particular morning, Mama has awoken early with the over-whelming need to bake an apple pie.  When Dory is awoken by the noise, she joins her mother, and together they assemble the pie and chat, laugh and love.
